In the heart of the Elgin Valley, surrounded by the Kogelberg Biosphere – a world heritage site – lies the home of Elgin Vintners on the Elgin Orchards farm which dates to 1890. Elgin Orchards is a WWF Conservation Champion, contributing to the survival of the Fynbos species in this special cool-climate region.
The combination of science and creativity that goes into wine-making was the “yes moment” that ignited Elgin Vintners winemaker, business manager and newest shareholder Marinda Kruger-Claassen’s passion for the industry. She had long been interested in the Elgin Valley – “an underrated area, with its cool-climate, so different to the rest of South Africa as a warm region, and its interesting wine-making potential”.
The newly opened and well-appointed tasting room boasts panoramic views of the valley and offer visitors a variety of wine tastings to choose from as well as a selection of wood-fired pizzas, artisanal cheese, estate olives and pairing options.
